Our History ~ 101 Years of Excellence

• March 26, 1910  Incorporated in West Newton, PA by 11 Associations of
  Baptist Churches, to serve widows and orphans
  
  
• 1915  Moved to current Mt. Lebanon campus
  
  
• 1926  Added 2 children's cottages
  
  
• 1943  Formed Women's Auxiliary
  
  
• 1951  Added new residential wing and intermediate care unit
  
  
• 1964  Completed new Nursing Center
  
  
• 1972  Phased out orphanage ministry
  
  
• 1979  Added Baptist Manor, 100 HUD independent apartments
  
  
• 1985  Completed addition to Nursing Center, with a total 126 beds
  
  
• 1987  Renovated Residence with 54 private rooms
  
  
• 1988  Constructed new chapel
  
  
• 1995  Renovated third floor Nursing Center into Alzheimer's Special Care
  Center
  
  
• 2004  Received CARF-CCAC Accreditation through June 2009
  
  
• 2005  Licensed as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Pennsylvania
  
  
• 2005  Opened on-site fully equipped Wellness/Fitness Center
  
  
• 2006  Groundbreaking held for new CCRC, Providence Point, scheduled to
  open by 2009 in Scott Township
  
  
• 2009  The Grand Opening of Providence Point, Pittsburgh's premiere
  retirement community.
  
  
• 2010  Baptist Homes Society celebrates its centennial.
