Job Summary:  Fulfills functions of senior operational manager and may be the licensed nursing home administrator for the community. The Executive Director is directly responsible for the community daily operations including nursing care, assisted living and independent living.

 

Job Duties Include:

  1. Develops and monitors systems to assure the physical, social, and spiritual well-being of residents of Baptist Homes skilled nursing center, personal care and Baptist Manor.
  2. Develops and empowers an effective management team to fulfill the mission, vision, values or the organization.
  3. Develops and implement operational strategies and plans to accomplish the stated goals of the Board of Director and Executive Management Team.
  4. Participates effectively on the Executive Management Team to develop and implement programs, and to establish policies and procedures.
  5. Performs other duties as requested by the President; attends and/or conducts meetings; prepares reports; completes surveys and forms as required.
  6. Assumes day to day management, supervision and direction of all operations responsibilities of the community including having direct responsibilities for regulatory, financial and marketing performance measures. 
  7. Maintains regulatory compliance within all areas of the community including HUD, personal care, and skilled nursing care.
  8. Achieves “substantial compliance” of OBRA/DOH and DHS surveys during period.
  9. Achieves acceptable UMR survey with acceptable MIS rate.
  10. Monitors completion of, response to, and results of new admissions survey.
  11. Develops and conducts periodic annual resident and family surveys.
  12. Develops and implements active resident/family grievance program resulting in no new litigation within the community.
  13. Presents effective and timely Board and Executive reports as requested.
  14. In conjunction with CFO, prepares accurate budget forecast and achieves Board approved budget performance requirements.
  15. Maintains budgeted occupancy, case mix and payor mix levels throughout the community; monitors spending; makes every effort to see that expenditures are within defined limits, and prepares variance reports when requested.
  16. Integrates skilled nursing center, personal care and Baptist Manor operating plans with the overall Baptist Homes Society strategic business plan, human resource policies, and values commitments.
  17. Effectively participates in corporate strategic planning activities including interfacing with the Strategic Planning Committee of the Board of Directors.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university, graduate degree in a related field or study with business or health care administration preferred; or three years related experience and/or training as a nursing home administrator; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Demonstrated proficiency in nursing home administration, business planning, and management sufficient to direct a Continuing Care Retirement Community and health care services organization with a staff in excess of 250+ employees and 280 residents. Maintains a valid nursing home administrator license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to provide outstanding executive leadership for a mission driven faith based not-for-profit organization offering housing, hospitality and health services to senior adults. Administrator must demonstrate a commitment to high ethical and moral standards.
  • Logical thinking and analytical skills.  Highly organized.  Ability to solve practical and complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must possess a strong intuitive grasp of complex situations, the ability to balance strategy and day-to-day operational details.
  • Ability to read analyze, and interpret and create as needed general business correspondence and periodicals, professional journals, financial reports and statements, technical procedures, operational strategic plans, or governmental regulations.  Ability to communicate effectively including report writing, daily business correspondence, publish internal policy and procedure manuals.  Customer oriented (internal and external) with exceptional interpersonal, oral communication, and leadership skills.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from residents, families, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from residents, families, employees, management team, Executive Team members, the Board of Directors, and the general public.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or Boards of Directors. Ability to utilize communication tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to utilize productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel.
