For many, Baptist Homes is a place to heal. We offer a full range of long- and short-term rehabilitative therapies in order to help residents maintain the highest possible degree of independence and functioning. Therapy services are available to all residents as part of our continuum of care.
Our professional therapists can provide physical, occupational and speech therapies in our Therapy Department, Wellness Center or the resident's room. They do so under the supervision of our medical director for rehabilitation services, a physiatrist who oversees therapy for all residents requiring rehabilitation.
Physical therapists provide evaluation, treatment and ongoing assessment to improve mobility, decrease pain, and improve strength and endurance. The physical therapist offers treatment designed to help residents in regain their previous level of functioning for maximum independence at home or in the long-term care setting.
Occupational therapists help individuals of all ages who have physical, developmental, emotional and social deficits. Occupational therapy offers specialized assistance in learning skills that enable residents to lead more independent, productive and satisfying lives.
Speech language pathologists provide ongoing treatment in a program that includes screening, evaluation and therapy for language, voice, articulation and fluency disorders. The speech therapist specializes in addressing dysphagia (swallowing disorders), which is a critical component of overall therapeutic treatment.
